We held the 5th Yamanoryu Kimono school graduation at the Montage Beverly Hills which is the 5 stars.
Our Master, Jane Aiko Yamano participated it from Japan with her family. Also, we invited the deputy consul general of Japan, the deputy chief of L.A.P.D and more V.I.P. 9 students passed the final exam and they got licenses for kimono stylist. Sueko Oshimoto has produced 33 kimono stylists in the U.S for 6 years. Our client who was nominated by Academy Awards appeared in Asahi Newspaper which is one of major media.
Asahi Newspaper website The Tsunami and the Cherry blossom which was 40min short movie was nominated. They couldn't win but we believe their message went all over the world. November 15th is Shichi-Go-San 753 day, a traditional rite of passage and festival day in Japan for three- and seven-year-old girls and five-year-old boys. On November 13th we had a photo shooting for the families who were celebrating it. Thank you so much for coming out and we hope we can this again next year.
We were invited to the Los Angeles Japan Consulate for the emperor's birthday and to welcome the new consul, Mr. Jyun Niimi.
We also dressed a talented young shamisen player, Ben Atkins, and Miss Asia USA Japan, Yuka Sano, who won 3rd place and the photogenic award at the Miss Asia USA contest this year. The 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards was held on November 10, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The Latin singer Shakira particularly known for the best selling song of the 2000s 'Hipps Don't Lie' won the award for Best Female Pop Vocal Album. She has won two Grammy Awards and eight Latin Grammy Awards in the past. For the event, Ms Yukiko Matsuyama the Japanese Koto artist performed with Shakira on Antes De Las Seis, her latest single from the album, Sale El Sol. She wore a gorgeous blue kimono dressed by Sueko Oshimoto for this event. Sueko also did her hair styling and makeup. Click this Video to see Shakira and Ms Matsuyama's performance on the stage!
